According to ASTM E45 standard, Plate I rating chart is used to inspect and assess the purity of steel materials. Class A, B, C and D inclusions are all rated as shells.
NAK80 steel is a pre-hardened plastic mold steel with a factory hardness of HRC38-43. It has excellent polishing and carving properties. The steel's outstanding feature is that it becomes soft after solution treatment (i.e. quenching), allowing it to be cold worked. After being made into a mold, it is then aged, which not only enhances its performance but also reduces heat treatment deformation.
718H is a vacuum-melted, ferrite-aluminum alloy steel that undergoes quenching and tempering before shipment. Ultrasonic testing confirms uniform hardness and metallographic structure, and it easily achieves a mirror finish. It offers the following advantages: no risk of quenching cracking or heat treatment deformation, no heat treatment costs, shortened mold production cycle, reduced mold costs (no need for deformation correction), easy mold modification, and nitriding and surface hardening treatments to increase mold surface hardness and wear resistance.
P20 is a pre-hardened, vacuum-degassed, pure steel suitable for plastic molds requiring high polishing or texturing (32-36 HRC is equivalent to Swedish 618 and German GS-2311). It is used directly in mold making and has good dimensional stability. Pre-hardened steel can meet the needs of general plastic mold applications and has a mold life of up to 500,000 cycles.
S136 steel is recommended for all molds because of its excellent mold properties such as high toughness, corrosion resistance, excellent polishability and fine steel structure.
Crl2MolVl steel is a high-carbon, high-chromium cold-working die steel widely used internationally. It is a ledeburitic steel with high hardenability, hardenability, and wear resistance.
